It is designed for students who want realistic full-process practice and for faculty who want a practical way to evaluate nursing actions, clinical judgment, and coaching growth without needing an internet connection. Learners can now choose RN or LVN/LPN plus 12 supported state-aligned practice standards.

Bedside Coach is built around how nurses think and work in real practice: context first, assessment and intervention under pressure, reflection after each run, and applied practice that goes beyond textbooks or AI-generated study guides.
Study Buddy turns one learning goal into one connected practice session. Case Study mode extends that same work into one patient across 6 connected clinical judgment questions. Shift Commander expands it further into a replayable, multi-patient 12-hour shift. RN and LVN/LPN role selection, plus 12 supported state-aligned practice standards, make the coaching more specific to the learner.

Every action begins with your voice.
There are no prefilled prompts and no training-wheel menus. Voice is the interface, not the whole skill. You practice introductions, assessment questions, patient education, handoff, and what to say while you work through real nursing decisions. Each scenario begins with an SBAR handoff so you can step in with clear priorities.
A scenario is more than a conversation.
Each scenario includes a simulated vital monitor and a patient record with the information you would expect to review in practice, including MAR, orders, history, and diagnostics. Shift Commander extends that into a full-unit view with multiple patients, changing conditions, and competing priorities.
Not every learner should be measured against the same lane.
Bedside Coach includes a nursing role picker so users can choose RN or LVN/LPN before the scenario begins. Objectives, rubric expectations, and coaching feedback then reflect that practicing role.
Bedside Coach is authored as a state-aligned educational simulation tool. Instead of applying one generic national rubric to every learner, the platform adjusts expectations using the selected role and the selected state practice standard.
Current supported state standards include California, New York, Texas, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Where LVN/LPN rules are nuanced, especially around IV therapy, delegation, or supervision, Bedside Coach uses a conservative educational interpretation unless a more specific state mode has been intentionally built and clinically reviewed. Bedside Coach is an educational support tool, not legal advice, not employer policy, and not a replacement for faculty judgment, board interpretation, or direct supervision.

After each session, Bedside Coach guides you through a short reflection to lock in key takeaways. Then it highlights strengths and improvement areas for that specific run and lets you export a PDF report for instructor review, including transcript, CJMM rubric scoring, and targeted coaching notes that reflect the role and scope selected for that session.
For structured evaluation, create a test session that pairs a learner with a proctor for standardized checkoffs, skills validation, or exam-style practice. Shift Commander also ends with a clear breakdown across safety, prioritization, communication, and efficiency.
